What do you think about people downloading movies/songs online, potentially ruining the entertainment business?

Posted on July 4th, 2009

So,
I have come across a startling fact..
It’s happening all over the world, every second. The downloading of pirated films, or songs.
Now let me ask,
will this eventually end up in the downfall of the entertainment business?
Will it, some day, get so bad that movies only make a couple of million box office and are content with what they have made?
Is this even possible?
And finally, will our economy be affected by the downfall of the entertainment business?
Discuss.

No, I think it actually promotes the music industry and that it is thriving off it right now. But as far as films, I don’t know. That is something we have yet to really see the affects off besides Wolverine.

Absolutely. The economy will be effected, but I don’t think that online piracy will destroy the entertainment business in it’s entirety.

With the exception of iTunes, pretty much every online music downloading site is completely destroying our music industry.

But the film industry would be a little harder to tank.

(I’m personally still into vinyl and movies with Humphrey Bogart. Haha.)
