Be careful. Things have not bottomed out at all, no matter what the optimists on the news say. A lot of cheap stocks are going to go bust.
Try and see if any of the food wholesalers and breweries are undervalued. Avoid food retail (restaurant chains etc.) because they are vulnerable to public belt-tightening. Now that there are so many guarantees behind them, many of the financial stocks are good buys – they are low because people are nervous of them, but many are not in bad shape.

Look at ETFs instead of individual stocks.
If you're like me, I am putting small amounts of money in each week into a mutual fund. I have a no load/no transaction fee mutual fund. Otherwise the commission fees would kill me for only investing such a small amount of money.
